The 2018 Breeders’ Cup World Championships take place on the 2nd and 3rd November at Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby.
A record number of 42 European runners will take on the Americans in 14 championship races, with prize money totalling in excess of $30 million.

The Europeans hold a strong hand in this with the first three in the betting. Soldiers Call rightly heads the market, the Royal Ascot winner having been placed in the first three in all his career starts to date. He gives his young trainer Archie Watson a first Breeders’ Cup runner and could give him the perfect start. Other contenders include the Aidan O’Brien trained duo So Perfect and Sergei Prokofiev, who looked a champion in the making at the start of the season. While the home challenge is headed by the unbeaten Shang Shang Shang.
Saturday 7:36 – Breeders’ Cup Mile
This is a race the Americans have targeted in recent years winning six out of the last seven running’s. Polydream is France’s main hope for this years Breeders Cup and has a favourites chance from a good draw in stall four. With Europe holding eight out of the fourteen entries, American hopes may rest with four-time grade one winner Oscar Performance, ridden by leading jockey Jose Ortiz who gained his first Breeders’ Cup win on this horse in 2016.
Saturday 8:56 – Breeders’ Cup Turf
Enable has been a superstar filly in Europe for the past two seasons, winning back to back Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe’s. In a race dominated by European runners, with eight out of the last ten contests going to the visitors, she looks the one they all have to beat. The Andre Fabre trained pair Waldgeist and Talismanic are two likely types for this race, however, both have difficult draws to overcome. The Arlington Million winner Robert Bruce could be best of the home team.
