Want the best odds online? Use a betting exchange (compare the top three here)
Years and years ago, I remember all the spread betting brokers offering sports trading as well as financials.
It was quite a cross over really. During the day, you’d be trading the FTSE and if you had any spare profits you’d take a punt on the evening’s races, the footie or what ever was the sport de jour.
But over the last decade brokers started focusing on one thing to capture market share and that meant they started dropping sports. And oddly enough one bookie started buying up all the sports traders.
Of course it’s daft to keep all your money in one place, but there was a certain amount of convenience to it.
I very rarely leave an sizable funds on account with a bookie or betting exchange. It’s just a question of trust really. With a bookie I want my money back ASAP, but with a broker, I’m happy for them to look after it.
So where can you trade sports and financials all in one place?
There are plenty of bookies out there that offer betting on the financial markets. You can take a small punt with Betfair, William Hill or Bet 365, but it’s a pretty light offering.
If you want a bookie that offers financial spread trading and sports betting all in one place there is really only one option. And thankfully, it’s a rather gentlemanly bookie, who still wears a fedora trackside, doing rather well and based in leafy St Albans.
