LeoVegas is a casino and sportsbook all-in-one. It was founded only 8 years ago in 2012 with the aim of becoming the best mobile casino in the world. It has seen meteoric growth since then, but this has not been without problems, as will be discussed later on. It accepts several currencies: Canadian dollars, Euros, British pounds, Swedish kronor, Czech Republic korunas and Indian rupees. And it operates in 9 languages: English, Swedish, Danish, German, Finnish, Norwegian, Spanish, Portuguese and Japanese.
The casino offers thousands of ordinary casino games in many different categories, such as slots, table games, LeoVegas Originals, multiplay, daily jackpots, Special Wilds, free spin games, and a pick ‘n’ click bonus category. There is also a live casino featuring dozens of options, such as blackjack, roulette, baccarat, game shows, fast plays, card games, auto roulette, poker, and VIP games. It has one of the widest selection of live casino games on the market.
And there is a sportsbook for placing bets on a selection of different sports, such as basketball, table tennis, hockey, and eSports as well. This gives LeoVegas players a lot of choices compared to other casinos in terms of the number of games available, and there are also several promotions that we’ll be getting into shortly. Each section of the casino has a different welcome bonus to encourage players to sign up for that element of LeoVegas.
LeoVegas Welcome Offer and Promotions
As I mentioned just now, LeoVegas offers three welcome bonuses, and this is a novel feature that isn’t common among casinos and sportsbooks. Each bonus is different and is designed to encourage players to choose that part of LeoVegas as their first choice upon signing up. The bonuses usually offer a combination of an initial deposit bonus and some free spins. Here’s what they are:
The casino welcome bonus is up to $1000 in cash along with 122 free spins.
The live casino welcome bonus is up to $500 in cash.
The sportsbook welcome bonus is up to $300 in cash.
But there are some terms and conditions that must be followed for each of these, and I’ll now explain them.
For the casino welcome bonus, you must claim it within 14 days, make a deposit to activate it and use all of the free spins on the Book of the Dead slots game within 3 days of them being credited to your account. There are no wagering requirements for the free spins, but you’ll need to meet the wagering requirements for the cash bonus within 30 days. That wager is set at 10x, meaning you’ll need to spend ten times the amount of the welcome offer before being able to withdraw any real money. There are also different wagering contributions depending on the game that you play. Slots are 100%, table games and video poker are 10%, and all others are zero. There are several slots that only contribute 70%, and a few which contribute zero. The cash bonus is a matched deposit bonus up to the value of $1000, which means you will receive double the amount of money in your account if your initial deposit is equal to or less than this sum. The offer can be declined or ignored if the player does not wish to use it.
For the live casino welcome bonus, there is the ability to receive it twice using offer cards, and the second one can be claimed after the first has been completed. Only live casino games will contribute toward the wagering requirements, which are set at 30x for this bonus. Minimal risk wagering can lead to the revocation of this offer. That means placing bets to cover more than 65% of the possible outcomes. The specific rules for minimal risk wagering differ depending on the live casino game you are playing. This offer is also a matched deposit offer, but only up to the value of $300. As with the casino welcome bonus, this offer can be declined or ignored if the player does not wish to take part.
For the sportsbook welcome bonus, a minimum deposit of $10 is required, and the wagering requirements must be met before the rest of the offer is unlocked. If the first deposit is between $10 and $49 and $50 of bets are placed at odds of 1.8 (4/5) or greater, $10 cash will be unlocked. If the first deposit is between $50 and $99 and $250 of bets are placed at the same odds or greater, then $50 cash will be unlocked. If the first deposit is between $100 and $199 and $500 of bets are placed at the same odds or greater, $100 cash will be unlocked. If the first deposit is between $200 and $299 and $1000 of bets are placed at the same odds or greater, $200 cash will be unlocked. If the first deposit is $300 or more, and $1500 of bets are placed at the same odds or greater, $300 cash will be unlocked. Only sports bets contribute to the wagering requirements, not any games in the casino or live casino. And like the others, this offer can be ignored or declined if the player does not wish to take part.
There is also an in-app welcome bonus which grants you 20 free spins on the Book of Dead game, subject to 35x wagering and needing to be used within 7 days.
The LeoVegas sportsbook also offers free bets to its players, and these will be sent to eligible customers using their contact details or by displaying it in their online sportsbook account. Free bets are only valid for a short period of time which will be made clear at the time they are offered to you. When you use a free bet it has to be used in full at one particular instance, so no splits or divisions are permitted. They are also paid out exclusive of the stake. Any free bets received need to be used up within 7 days or they will expire. Weekly free bets are offered as part of the LVFC program for soccer live betting.
Matched Free Bets
The LeoVegas sportsbook also offers matched free bets to its players. You must first place a qualifying bet to be eligible, and the free bets will be credited to your account within 24 hours. They follow the same rules as ordinary free bets, which means they cannot be split or divided, are paid out exclusive of the stake and expire after 7 days.
LeoVegas also offers two special promotions. These are the profit boost and sports cash.
The profit boost will be paid as cash on top of any winnings and deposited into the player’s online sportsbook account. The amount of the boost is calculated based on the odds quoted on the betting slip. If the boost is, for example, 25% and the odds are 3.0 (2/1) then they will be boosted to 3.5 (5/2). Each profit boost has a cap on the stake that can be placed, and another cap on the total amount of extra winnings derived from its use. To use it, you will need to qualify for it, select the market you’d like to bet on, select profit boost under the bonus offers section in the betslip, and then place your bet. Specific terms will differ depending on the sport the bonus applies to. Weekly profit boosts are offered for soccer live betting under the LVFC program.
There are also accumulator profit boosts when a qualifying bet is placed with three or more selections on football, ice hockey, basketball, handball, volleyball, American football, cricket or e-sports. Trebles give you a 10% boost, 4 folds a 20% boost, 5 folds a 35% boost, 6 folds a 50% boost and 7+ folds a 65% boost. Five such boosts are available weekly, and the maximum winnings are $1000. Betting odds need to be 1.3 or higher. The maximum stake is $30. Winnings are calculated based on the odds on the betslip. This offer cannot be used with any others.
The sports cash bonus can only be claimed if cash is wagered on the sportsbook at minimum odds of 1.8 (4/5). The bonus cash is then deposited into the player’s online sportsbook account. Wagering requirements apply, and these can only be met within the sportsbook section of LeoVegas. Each offer in this category may have other specific conditions such as minimum and maximum winnings, wagering requirements and the length of the promotional period.
Loyalty Program & VIP Management
LeoVegas has a loyalty program. A VIP bar grows with every real money bet you place, and eventually, you will move up a level. This grants you tickets into the monthly VIP prize draw. Prizes include Apple products, exclusive event experiences and more. Every month, one player from each group of levels will get a special prize. The level groups are 1-10, 11-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 61-70, and 70+. The number of tickets you get is calculated based on your level. You will also receive birthday rewards, personal account managers, and a personal payments and withdrawals service.
LeoVegas Sports and Markets
The sportsbook offers a selection of sports and markets for players to bet on. The sports available are baseball, basketball, boxing, chess, cricket, darts, esports, football, golf, hockey, horse racing, kung-volleyball, motorsports, olympic games, rugby, snooker, soccer, surfing, table tennis, tennis, trotting, UFC/MMA, and WWE/Pro wrestling. The markets available are both international and domestic, but this will vary depending on the sport you select. For example with basketball, you can bet in the NBA, NCAAB, and WNBA, and the Chinese Super Basketball League.
There are also more than 120,000 live events covering these sports so that you can bet as the game is in progress. This can be done in most of the major sports offered on LeoVegas, and to show an example, as of writing this review there are live matches scheduled now for soccer, hockey, table tennis, and esports.
LeoVegas offers a range of immersive esports games to place pre-match, or live bets on. These are Call of Duty, CS:GO, DOTA 2, League of Legends, Rainbow 6 and Starcraft 2. Multiple leagues are available for each game within which you can place bets. For example, CS:GO has 6 leagues on LeoVegas – ESEA Premier EU, ESL Meisterschaft, Flashpoint, Home Sweet Home Cup, LOOT.BET/CS, and Svenska Elitserien.
The casino section of LeoVegas is extensive, particularly the live casino area. There are more than 1100 slot games like Book of Dead, Mega Moolah and Wolf Gold, dozens of table games like blackjack and roulette, plus LeoVegas Originals such as Pirates 2: Mutiny and Avatars: Gateway Guardians. Jackpot and daily jackpot games are also available, along with other special categories such as pick ‘n’ click bonus games, and Special Wilds. This means there is something to satisfy everyone, as plenty of genres are covered.
The live casino features not just common options like blackjack, roulette, baccarat, and poker, but a lottery game called Mega Ball, dozens of card games such as Side Bet CITY, and table games such as Dream Catcher. There are also auto, fast, and VIP options too. They’ve also got some classic titles like Monopoly and Deal or No Deal. This is a generous and wide selection and covers pretty much everything you’d want in a live casino.
Mobile & App
LeoVegas runs better in a mobile browser and has a more user-friendly interface on mobiles. This shows its focus on the mobile experience rather than the PC or laptop experience. The interface is smooth and stable, without any problems, and the different sections of the website are easy to locate and navigate through. This holds true for the casino, live casino, and sportsbook.
There is an award-winning app available for both iOS and Android phones, which has been reviewed generally positively by players. It is smooth and matches the range of elements and features offered on the website.
Licensing and Regulation
LeoVegas is operated by LeoVegas Gaming PLC, which is licensed by the Malta Gaming Authority, with the corporate group license number MGA/CRP/237/2013, which was issued on 1st August 2018 to provide Type 1 and Type 2 gaming services. Its registered address is Level 7 Plaza Business Center, Triq Bisazza, Silema, SLM1640.
It is also encrypted with SSL encryption from Digicert to ensure that all transactions and interactions with the website are processed safely and securely.
LeoVegas is restricted in the following countries: Australia, the United States, Hungary, Estonia, Serbia, Russia, and Ukraine. It is also unavailable in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
Bonuses are also restricted, and can only be claimed by residents of a small number of countries, which are: Canada, New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark.
There are several ways to get in touch with LeoVegas to request support. They also have a help center page with articles on common issues and features top suggestions. The contact details are as follows:
Telephone: +356 2778 1166
They also have a live chat option that is available on their website.
LeoVegas offers a small selection of deposit and withdrawal methods for Canadian users. There is a set minimum for both withdrawals and deposits, which is set at $20, and this applies to all payment methods.
The deposit-only methods are Interac2Pay, Interact E-Transfer, Paysafecard and MasterCard/Visa.
Interac2Pay and Interact E-Transfer is an add-on for online banking that allows you to make deposits for a surcharge of up to $1.50 per transaction, once you have verified the transaction using a special security code. These two methods are also debits, so they won’t allow you to exceed your wallet limit.
Paysafecard is a prepayment platform that also allows you to make payments from your phone, and it does not require a bank account associated with it. You can buy vouchers from $5 to $100 without any surcharges. Each voucher has a unique 16-digit code.
MasterCard/Visa is the classic deposit method that everyone knows about, and like most platforms, LeoVegas supports these. However, it is not possible to make withdrawals through this method, and if you want to use these for that, you’ll need to make a bank transfer.
The joint deposit and withdrawal methods are MuchBetter, iDebit, and InstaDebit. Before making any withdrawals, you will need to make an initial deposit through your chosen method.
MuchBetter is an e-wallet with an award-winning payment app, allowing you to earn loyalty points for every transaction, with a reward for every $10 deposited on LeoVegas. When you’d like to withdraw, MuchBetter will act as a mediator and make the transfer within 5 days.
iDebit links to your credit card and allows you to use it in real-time for LeoVegas. It has a $1.50 surcharge to make a deposit and a $2 surcharge to withdraw your funds to your bank account. They also keep a record of your transaction history. But you can also make deposits as a guest if you do not want to make an account.
InstaDebit works like a virtual cheque, where you submit your cheque book details upon signing up to validate payments. All you need to do is link it to your LeoVegas account from their payment portal. It has a surcharge of $1.95 for deposits and a surcharge of $2.00 for withdrawals.
Wagering requirements vary according to any bonuses you use, but there is no further information about this on the website, so your best option is to assume they are similar to those in the respective welcome bonuses for each section of the casino.
LeoVegas is a reputable platform that is licensed, regulated and has clear ownership details. There are many reviews of them published online which give them an above-average rating. The most common complaints of players are that there are problems with processing withdrawals. Issues include delayed and pending payments, account suspensions and blocks, and delays with the account verification process. The latter is a process that all reputable casinos have, including LeoVegas, where identification documents need to be sent to the casino for examination and verification prior to funds being released. Most of these complaints appear to have been resolved, although some have not. However, there have been some legal controversies relating to deceptive advertising in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
LeoVegas Gaming PLC is a subsidiary of LeoVegas AB, a company listed on the Swedish stock exchange. Its co-founders are Gustaf Hagman, also the current CEO, and Robin Ramm-Ericson. It was founded in 2011 and has gone on to become highly successful, with more than 930 employees. Its most recently available revenue figure in Canadian dollars is $498.9 million. This compares to $56.3 million in 2014. The company also has offices in Italy, the United Kingdom, and Poland. It has expanded noticeably since its beginning, with 54,000 depositors in 2013 and 202,000 by 2015.
LeoVegas is very strong in the mobile casino and sportsbook market. It has placed its focus there since its launch and it has been the ambition of the founders to dominate that niche. In this, it has been mostly successful, although withdrawal problems and legal difficulties with advertising have harmed the cleanliness of its brand. However, it has clearly made efforts to present itself professionally, with a separate website devoted to gambling responsibly called Leo Safe Play, and it is very open to observation with its ownership and business structure. Plus with its numerous awards, it has won the trust of many. So we would recommend that you do your research on LeoVegas if you’re unsure about any of their marketing, and look out for any withdrawal problems. Other than that, LeoVegas seems like a solid and fair casino with a lot going for it, particularly if you prefer to play your games on mobile devices.
