Premier League Betting Tips – December 21st & 22nd 2019
The last big weekend of Premier League action before the busy Christmas fixture list kicks into gear and it’s a very very good one. A couple of top 6 teams face off and we are treated to Chelsea travelling to Spurs to face off against their once favourite son in Jose Mourinho. Here at BetOpin, it is our duty to make it easy for you to make some cash. Our soccer expert has cast his eyes over the fixture list and has the four best games of the weekend, and the best bets from these games sussed.
Everton V Arsenal – KO 12.30 (Saturday)
Everton might just have turned a corner recently. With the appointment of Duncan Ferguson as caretaker manager, Everton fortunes have turned for the better. Two hard fixtures against Chelsea and Manchester United have led to 4 points. Before these two games, Everton looked destined for the drop. Arsenal, on the other hand, are in freefall. Having sacked Unai Emery after a string of awful results, appointing Freddie Ljungberg as a caretaker boss hasn’t had much of a positive effect. Having been fully outplayed by Manchester City on Sunday and beaten 0-3 Arsenal face a difficult few weeks through Christmas. With games against Chelsea and Manchester United to come, points will be at a premium here.
Arsenal will be looking towards their playmakers Mesut Ozil and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang to step up and lead them to a much-needed win. Everton seems a more united unit since Ferguson took over and are playing more as a team. The key for Everton here will be not to concede early and see can they nick a goal and hold out.
Score Prediction – Everton 2-0 odds of 16/1 with Coral
Best Bet – A straight Everton to win bet with Paddy Power at odds of 7/5
Man City Vs Leicester KO 5.30 (Saturday)
The battle of the second and third place takes place live on Saturday evening. Leicester have been a big surprise to many this season, playing extremely entertaining football, scoring plenty of goals and reminding us all how they shocked the world and won the league a couple of seasons ago. As much as a surprise that Leicester has been, Man City and their inconsistency with results might be an even bigger one. Less than halfway through the season and City have already lost 4 games. At times they remind you just how good team they are, most recently battering Arsenal at the Emirates 0-3, but they are far too inconsistent for their fans and to be a confident betting selection in a lot of games.
Leicester will be looking to their top goal scorer and talisman Jamie Vardy to continue his amazing run of form that sees him as one of the top forwards in the Premier League this year. Already in double figures for goals, he is playing at the top of his game. On the other side, City have a team full of talent that to this point hasn’t clicked fully through a solid run of games. At some stage the likes of Kevin de Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero will surely put it all together sooner rather than later and will go on a run of wins at some stage throughout the season.
Score Prediction – Man City 3-2 at odds of 22/1 with Betfair
Best Bet – Man City HT/FT at odds of 11/10 with Coral
Watford Vs Man United KO 2.00 (Sunday)
Man United is a bit of an enigma at the minute. Bad against the so-called mid-table and bad teams in the league, yet they beat the top 6 teams and look like a half-decent team when they play them. Ole has taken to playing the youth throughout the team with the likes of Daniel James and Marcus Rashford becoming full-time starters and younger talents like Mason Greenwood also getting a chance under the boss. If United could play every week as they did against Man City a couple of weeks back they would surely go on a decent run and games against Watford would-be sure-fire wins and 3 points gained.
Watford bottom of the league and with 4 losses and a draw in the last five is surely easy pickings for this Man United team. A draw or a loss here for United would have the questions and rumours flying about Ole being sacked all over again. This should be an easy Man United win.
Score Prediction – Man United 0-3 at odds of 16/1 with Bet365
Best Bet – Man United – 2 goals at odds of 13/2 with SpreadEX
Spurs Vs Chelsea KO 4.30 (Sunday)
On a decent weekend of games, this might be the very best of the weekend. Jose Mourinho faces his old team early on in his job with Spurs. Spurs have played better since his appointment as their new manager but are still not the finished article. Chelsea, on the other hand, are struggling in the league at the minute. Playing well in Europe that form has not transferred to the Premiership, Chelsea has lost four of their last five games.
Chelsea is a relatively youthful side and perhaps are lacking a bit of leadership at the minute. Frank Lampard would be worried if they were loose again to Spurs. It’s a tricky trip for Chelsea and I could see them being happy with a draw. In the last 5 Spurs have only lost against Man United. They are the form pick going into Sundays big London Derby. Mourinho will have his squad full up for this game and will want the last laugh against his old team.
I see this being on an open game with a couple of goals either side, possibly a 2-2 draw with Spurs main man Harry Kane grabbing a goal as he does every other week. A great Sunday evening game of football to start us all into the Christmas Period.
Score Prediction – 2-2 draw with Bet365 having the best odds at 11/1
Best Bet – I have to go with Harry Kane for the first goal. Unibet are going best price for this market at 21/5
