Premier League Betting Tips – 28/29th Christmas Football
Boxing day football never fails to disappoint with great games and shocks aplenty this year was no different. The Christmas schedule rolls on to Saturday and Sunday with no rest forthcoming for our favourite teams.
Man United fell behind early on boxing day but put together a performance from then on that was totally out of the blue for how they have been playing. They had a bit of help from mistakes from Newcastle but it was impressive nonetheless. Arsenal failed to win yet again and are a work in progress at the minute. Chelsea once again showed their complete lack of consistency with loosing to relegation battlers Southampton. Most impressive of all was Liverpool who dismantled a great Leicester side who are second in the league.
It is surely a case of when not if, Liverpool win the League this year.
Norwich Vs Spurs KO 5.30
Spurs showed a bit of bite on boxing day coming from behind to beat Brighton. Jose Mourinho will be happy to see a bit of character being shown. Harry Kane along with Dele Alli was on the scoreboard and Alli, in particular, has been visually impressive in his performances since Mourinho took charge. He seems to be benefitting from the style of Jose’s management. Norwich is struggling badly, last in the league and without a win in five its hard to see where they will pick up points. They will desperate here for a result but I can’t see them getting one.
This should be a heavy victory in favour of Spurs, it will be a big shock if they do not get the job done here. Could be goals aplenty for the likes of Kane and Son and if Spurs go ahead early it could be a long day for Norwich.
Score Prediction – Spurs 0-3. Best odds of 14/1 with Bet 365
Best Bet – Spurs -1 looks very generous here @15-8 with Matchbook
Burnley V Man Utd – KO 7.45
Utd fans will look back on last night and think where has this team been, how can we be so inconsistent. Fans though will surely be happy to see the team score a few goals and play some attacking football. Newcastle didn’t put up much of a fight after the game went 1-1 but United were impressive all the same. Anthony Martial can be world-class on his day and he was on his game yesterday, his second goal a beautiful dinked finish. If United can find some consistency and try to keep some clean sheets they might be able to put a small run together and move towards the top four. This season a top-four finish would be a successful end for United.
Burnley at home is a tough game for any team. They play above themselves in a lot of home games and especially against the perceived big 5/6 teams. Sitting in 12th in the table they have put together a nice season for a smaller club and apart from the big defeat to Spurs have played well in recent weeks. Beaten by Everton on Boxing Day wasn’t a poor result, it was a hard-fought game from both sides with Everton just pipping it 1-0. This, in my opinion, could be a close game, Burnley rarely gets hammered, but I feel United can just edge this one.
Score Prediction – Man Utd 1-2, you will get the best odds for this with Bet 365 @17/2
Best Bet – Man Utd to win. Matchbook will give you 5/6
Arsenal Vs Chelsea – KO 2.00 (Sunday 29th)
Chelsea beat Spurs 2-0 and looked like one of the best teams in the league, fast forward to their next game and they are being beaten by relegation-threatened Southampton. They are extremely inconsistent and it must be a real head-scratcher for their manager Frank Lampard to know what team to expect to turn up week to week. They have an abundance of talent when they do decide to play up to their level with the likes of Kante, Willian amongst others. They are fourth in the league though and getting a champions league place will be their long-term goal.
As stated already Arsenal is a bit of a work in progress. 11th position in the league just isn’t good enough for a club like Arsenal but they have just changed the manager and the second half of this season will be where they are looking towards to change their fortunes. Two draws in their most recent games isn’t the worst results but they will want to get back to winning ways asap. A draw is the most likely result for me in this game, with it being exciting with a few goals.
Score Prediction – 2-2 go-to Coral for the best price of 12/1
Best Bet – Both teams to score and result a draw. 10/3 with William Hill
Liverpool Vs Wolves – KO 4.30 (Sunday)
Liverpool answered any critic they had left on Boxing Day. Coming off winning the Club World Cup, travel and a packed schedule of games they went and battered second-place Leicester. From start to finish the game looked one-sided and there was only going to be one winner. Liverpool look strong and dominant all over the field, Van Djik win defence, Keita bossing midfield and the three amigos upfront, Salah, Mane and Firmino. If you stop two of them the other always seems to up his game on that particular day. They look like champions and are playing as such.
Wolves are quietly putting together another strong season currently sitting in 5th thanks to a surprise come back against Man City they can surely look forward to another season next year of Premier League football and possibly can push for a Europa League spot if they continue to add decent results to what has already been a great season. They will do extremely well though to stop Liverpool adding another win to what has been a flawless season so far.
Score Prediction – 2-0 Liverpool at 13/2 with Bet 365
Best Bet – Liverpool HT/FT at 20/23 with Coral
Man City Vs Sheffield United – KO 6.00 (Sunday)
At the time of writing Man City have just managed to let a two-goal lead fall to a 3-2 defeat against Wolves. They are turning into a bit of an enigma, so much quality, they batter teams one week and then have a shocking result the following week. After beating Arsenal and Leicester, Wolves should have been 3 points for City but it wasn’t to be.
That being said this City team is loaded with talent and will go on a run of results eventually. The victories against Arsenal and Leicester in their last two league games before the trip to Wolves would seem to be the real Man City if they can finally get some consistency. City should at the end of the season finish second and be the only realistic challengers left to Liverpool. Kevin de Bruyne is playing like the best midfielder in the League and if he continues to City will win a lot of games in the second half of the season.
Sheff Utd fans might be getting dizzy looking at their league position but they have played super so far and are deserving of it. They sit in 6th place and can rest easy that they surely have secured Premier League football for another year. They will perform with credit against City as they have done all year but this one will be a City win.
