UEFA Euro 2020/2021 Odds & Betting Preview
Ever since the UEFA postponed Euro 2020 until June 2021, millions of football fans throughout the world have been eagerly counting the days until the showdown. The long wait is nearly over, and it’s time to get ready for action.
Germany and Spain reign supreme in European Championships, winning three titles each. Cristiano Ronaldo and his Portugal team are the most recent winners, having beaten France in the Euro 2016 finals.
Luis Figo, Zinedine Zidane, and Alessandro Del Piero are just some of football’s greats to have fought for the Henri Delaunay Trophy throughout the years. Heated rivalries, intense matchups, and tons of excitement — these are the key features of every European Championship, and it’s unlikely that Euro 2020 is going to be any different.
During prestigious football events such as Euro 2020, bookmakers expand their betting portfolio and release a plethora of markets that aren’t available for lower-ranked competitions. That means plenty of potential winning opportunities, that is if you know how and where to look for value. And after reading this article, you surely will.
Our adept team has put together a comprehensive Euro 2020/2021 betting guide, with a detailed analysis of each group, including betting predictions and expert picks for the competition.

In addition to the World Cup, football competitions are not larger than the Euro Championships. This is the tournament at which the best foreign teams in Europe come together to compete to see who the Kings of Europe will be. The tournament regularly includes teams from all over the continent, such as England, France, Spain, Italy, or Germany. This occurrence normally happens once every four years, but the event was now delayed back to 2021 due to apparent economic events.
Euro 2020/2021 — Group A
Group A features Italy, Switzerland, Turkey, and Wales. In all likelihood, it will be a toss-up between Italy and Switzerland, although we wouldn’t completely write off Wales and Turkey. One thing is for sure — the matchup between the Azzuri and the Nati is going to be a feast for the senses.
Italy – 11/1
Italy is currently one of the top eight favourites to win the Euro 2020 and is priced at outright odds of around 13.00 at most bookies. This seems like a wager worth taking, especially considering that they’ve not lost a match since August 2018, and have been on a great run ever since.
They’ve been playing tremendous defence, and since their loss to France back in June 2018, they’ve not conceded more than two goals in a match. If Ciro Immobile keeps up his deadly scoring streak, the Azzuri should easily swoop into the quarter-finals, at least.
Switzerland – 66/1
Even though they’ve reached the semis in the Nations League, Switzerland’s form has significantly dropped since the World Cup. They had a tough time in their qualifying Euro Group, barely winning it by one point over Denmark.
Their biggest strength is experience. The team has been together for quite a while now, and they’ve built nice chemistry, which is an essential factor on the biggest stage. However, their defence is not as it used to be. The Shaqiri – Xhaka combo need to bring out their A-game if they want to make it out of Group A.
Most bookies have them as the second favourite to win group A, with betting odds in the range of 5.2-5.70. Quite frankly, that seems like long-shot at this point, though we can see them reaching the quarter-finals.
Turkey – 80/1
Turkey has shown that it can compete with the best, after finishing second in the qualification stage, only two points behind World Champions France and losing only one of their ten matches.
Ex-Barcelona star and arguably the finest player Turkey has ever produced, Arda Turan has returned to Galatasaray and seems more motivated than ever. If he recaptures his best form, he can dominate any defence. Still, we don’t see Turkey coming out of group A. Simply put, they don’t have enough firepower in their arsenal.
Our Euro 2020 tips have Turkey as the third favourite to win Group A. Betting operators don’t give them much of a chance either as they’re priced at 101.00 to win the title.
Wales – 100/1
Wales will surely want to repeat their performance from Euro 16 when they reached the semi-finals. Ryan Giggs’ squad has hit a couple of bumps in the qualifications, securing a spot in the Euro 2020 after winning the last match in Group E.
It’s going to take one hell of a performance from Garreth Bale to take his Dragons into the knock-out stage. The bookmakers have them at around 8.00 to win Group A, but our Euro 2020 betting tips analysts believe that chasing one of the best third-place spots is the most they can hope for.
Group A Winner – Italy
Euro 2020/2021 — Group B
Group B will have Belgium, Denmark, Russia, and Finland. Needless to say that Belgium is the heavy favourite to proceed as group winners, but Denmark is not to be trifled with either. The standoff between these two teams is the one to keep an eye on.
Belgium – 5/1
Belgium went unbeaten throughout qualifying, winning all ten of their games. Roberto Martinez has a hugely talented pool of players at his disposal, including the trio Hazard – Lukaku – De Bruyne, who continue to terrorize defences with their pace and skill. It will take a miracle for someone to take them out in Group B, despite the tough competition they’ll face.
Belgium will most likely cruise all the way to the quarter-finals, and depending on the draw, probably even further. If they can sustain their current form, we’re probably going to see them at the Wembley Stadium fighting for the trophy.
The Red Devils are currently the odds-on favourites to win their maiden European Championship at around 5.00.
Denmark – 50/1
Being one of the hosts, Denmark will be extra motivated to put on a great show. They almost won their qualification group, ultimately trailing Switzerland by only one point. With Eriksen at the front and Schmeichel between the posts, Kasper Hjumand’s team is firing on all cylinders.
The Euro 2020 betting tipsters working at Betopin fancy Denmark as the runner-up of Group B, right behind Belgium. The Danish Dynamite is the second-favorite to win the group at 4.00, but that seems like a wasted bet.
Everyone here at Betopin is wishing Christian Eriksen a full recovery. All the best!
Finland – 300/1
Norwich City’s striker Teemu Pukki has scored ten of his team’s 16 goals en route to their first-ever finals. If he stays healthy, they could pull an upset and maybe go for the third seed with a real opportunity to push towards the knock out stage. Their entire game plan revolves around Pukki capitalizing on sporadic goalscoring opportunities as well as creating space for his teammates by pulling the focus of the opposition defenders.
This tactic will not bear fruit against the likes of Denmark and Belgium, so we wouldn’t recommend laying huge of a punt on them to win many matches in the Euro 2020. The bookies don’t seem too enthusiastic about the Eagle-Owls either, offering 17.00 odds to win Group B.
Russia – 100/1
Led by manager Stanislav Cherchesov, Russia won all of their matches except the two losses against Belgium in the 2018 World Cup. Nobody is expecting them to win Euro 2020, but they have shown across the past 12 months that they can be as good as any on their day.
They have a young and developing squad, so there is no reason why they can’t make it at least past the group stage. And if they’re going to do so, the prodigious young playmaker Aleksandr Golovin is going to have to carry them. Russia is currently neck-and-neck with Finland at 5.00 to go through to the knockout stage.
Group B Winner – Belgium
Euro 2020/2021 — Group C
Group C will host the Netherlands, Austria, Ukraine, and North Macedonia. It sets up nicely for the Netherlands to top the group, but Austria will also be looking to extend their good form. The game between Ukraine and Austria is probably going to be the tiebreaker for second place.
Austria – 100/1
Under Franco Foda, the Austrian team has become a force to be reckoned with. However, they lost three group games in qualifying and may find it difficult to get past Ukraine and Netherlands. Alaba and Arnautovic need to keep the ball rolling, or else Austria will pack their bags before the knockout.
The 7.00 odds for them to win Group C seems like science fiction at this point, but if Ukraine and the Netherlands get off to a slow start, all bets are off.
Netherlands – 15/2
After missing out on the last European Championship and the World Cup, the Netherlands football team is eager to reassert their authority on the international stage. The team’s manager Ronald Koeman has proven his worth after reaching the UEFA Nations League final and finishing the qualifying group second behind Germany.
The young tandem Van Dijk – de Jong – de Ligt are capable of great things, but inexperience may hold the Dutch back from topping group C.
At 8.00, Netherlands is one of the top favourites to win the title, but our Euro 2020 betting experts wouldn’t recommend making that bet.
North Macedonia – 500/1
North Macedonia made it to a major tournament for the first time in the country’s history, thanks to the Nations League play-off. The 37-year old Goran Pandev will finally get the chance to showcase his skills, although we don’t expect his team to make much of an impact. Best case scenario — they manage to squeeze a point.
Ukraine – 66/1
Ukraine didn’t lose a single qualification contest and finished their group three points ahead of Portugal. The big question is, can they keep up the tempo in the finals. The Yellow and Blue don’t have a great record at the European Championships, but Andriy Shevchenko’s team looks stronger than ever, so that’s likely to change.
The only thing that Ukraine lacks is a prolific scorer. They’re solid on all other fronts, and they’re more than capable of seizing their chance against the Netherlands and Austria. Betting agencies have them at 6.00 to win Group C — this a wager we’ll gladly accept.
Group C Winners – Netherlands
Euro 2020/2021 — Group D
Teams competing in Group D include England, Czech Republic, Croatia, and Scotland. England and Croatia seem like a lock to proceed to the next round, but the Czech Republic could steal a point from both these teams and spice it up a bit. Football betting fans surely can’t wait for the England – Croatia thriller.
Croatia – 25/1
The gifted Croatians have Ivan Perisic, Mateo Kovacic, and Luka Modric to lean on against the likes of Scotland and Czech Republic. The 2018 World Cup finalists aren’t in the top ten favourites to win Euro 2020 according to the bookies. This is expected since Zlatko Dalic and the boys have had some troubles on the defensive side throughout the qualifications, which could be their Achilles heel going forward.
Czech Republic – 200/1
The Czech Republic will have to put up a heroic performance to outshine England and Croatia, but we wouldn’t completely rule them out. The Locomotive has assembled a solid roster, starting from Patrik Schick who’s been playing exquisitely for Bayer Leverkusen and was equally efficient in the national team.
Jaroslav Silhavy’s crew were in England’s qualifying group for Euro 2020 and even defeated them 2:1 at home. With that in mind, the Czech Republic could prove a tough nut to crack for Croatia and England in the opening games.
England – 5/1
The Three Lions come as one of the leading favourites to win Euro 2020. They will face their World Cup nemesis Croatia to compete for supremacy in Group D. Gareth Southgate’s team did pretty well in the qualifiers and seem to be clicking in just about every position. The Premier Leagues top scorer Harry Kane will lead the line, and home stadium advantage could prove vital in their campaign.
As it stands, England, along with Belgium, leads the pack with bookmakers having them priced at 6.00 to win the tournament. We wouldn’t be betting against them, that’s for sure.
Scotland – 250/1
Scotland has qualified for their first major championship in over 20 years, and they did it by beating Serbia in the playoffs in overtime. Steve Clarke’s brigade will hardly make any noise in Group D, despite great recent performances from Andrew Robertson and Kieran Tierney. The opposition is just too loaded.
Group D Winners – England
Euro 2020 — Group E
Group E will have Spain, Poland, Sweden, and Slovakia. Spain coming out as the winner looks like a no-brainer, but Poland could be one of the dark horses of the group. Whoever comes on top in this potentially exciting clash should comfortably transition to the knockout phase.
Poland – 100/1
Poland won their qualifying group smoothly by six points, and if Robert Lewandowski is fully fit, they’ll be as good as any team. Their 2018 World Cup campaign was disappointing as they were knocked out in the group stages, so they’ll surely aim to do better. Their only issue is consistency and lack of variety on offence. Regardless, a wager on the White and Reds to win Group E at odds 7.00 looks quite tempting.
Slovakia – 250/1
Slovakia, who captured the last spot in Group E after a playoff win against Northern Ireland, will try to emulate their Round of 16 performance from the last Euros. They lack the star power, however, to be considered anything more than a nuisance.
Spain – 7/1
Spain will look to bounce back after disappointments in the last three major tournaments. They won their qualifying group comfortably, winning eight of their ten fixtures. Any team drama notwithstanding, Morata, Ramos, Rodrigo and co. should be able to win the group pretty easily. Unfortunately, they’re priced at only 1.30, so we wouldn’t recommend placing a group wager on La Furia Roja.
Sweden – 7/1
Even without Ibrahimovic, Sweden managed to put on a magnificent performance at the 2018 World Cup, making it to the quarter-finals. Janne Anderson’s unit will have their work cut out for them if they wish to escape the group stages this time as well. If the ‘golden boy’ rejoins the lineup, though, anything is possible. If not, they’re unlikely to repeat the success from Russia.
Group E Winners – Spain
Euro 2020/2021 — Group F
Group F has been nicknamed the ‘group of death’, and rightfully so, as it hosts three heavy hitters in Germany, Portugal, and France in addition to one of the tournament’s hosts Hungary. All three teams will need to be at the top of their game to secure a getaway card from this group, and their incoming bouts are something every football betting fan eagerly awaits.
France – 5/1
France heads to Euro 2020 as one of the favourites. Les Bleus will try to win back-to-back titles in majors for the time since 2000. Didier Deschamp didn’t change his lineup much since the World Cup success, with Kylian Mbappe being the team’s driving force and Antoine Griezman playing as his wingman. It’s hard to make any predictions when it comes to the winner of this group, but it’s hard to imagine France not getting to the next round.
Germany – 15/2
After a tragic performance at the 2018 World Cup, three-time winners Germany had a tough time but bounced back with a qualifying group win over the Netherlands. The fact that they’re flying under the radar could work to their advantage. In Serge Gnabry, Joakim Lev’s side has an explosive winger that’s been missing for a while, and the midfield quartet of Goretzka, Gundogan, Kroos, and Kimmich is finally beginning to gel. Will it be enough to get over the hump? Highly unlikely. We’d be surprised if they make it out of the group stage, given the competition.
Portugal – 12/1
Current European champions and winners of the Nations League Portugal have shown nothing but world-class performances in the past couple of years. Fernando Santos has put all the right pieces together and continues to build a team around one of the greatest players of all time, Cristiano Ronaldo. The Navigators are of a high enough quality to proceed as group winners.
Strangely enough, they’re only the eight favourites to win the trophy, priced at around 13.00 at most betting sites. This could be the wager we’ve all been waiting for.
Hungary – 250/1
You have to feel sorry for Hungary who’s gone above and beyond to make it to the tournament only to end up facing these three football giants. This will only be the second time for the Magyar to appear at the European Championship since 1970. Our Euro 2020 betting panel doesn’t even give them a puncher’s chance to stay in the mix beyond the three games.
Group F Winner – France
Our Euro 2021 Predicted Top Teams
Our top sports betting picks to win Euro 2021 are Belgium and France. The Red Devils are arguably the most complete squad in the tournament, with world-class players in just about every position. This will probably be one of the last stands for the golden generation and a final chance to capitalize on a monster era of depth and talent.
The French, on the other hand, will want to establish their dominance after winning the World Cup. Les Bleus will need to perform on their highest level to triumph in the death group, but if they succeed, the sky is the limit.
Euro 2021 — Betting Outsider
Our dark horse in the betting for the tournament in Ukraine. The Yellow and Blue are a well-coached team led by the legendary Andriy Shevchenko. They defend well, have multiple options at the forward positions, and more importantly, understand one another’s roles within the team. Ukraine is a cohesive unit, difficult to score against, and one that can score against the finest of defences.
