Wednesday’s Horse Racing NAP of The Day – January 8th 2020
Tips provided by The Finishing Line’s Andrew Halligan
Ludlow 1.15 – Dragon D’Estruval @ 9/4
Daryl Jacobs first ride back may well be a winning one. Dragon D’Estruval takes a nice drop in grade and with that comes less demanding opposition.
He has to carry top weight but he should have the class to deal with it. Dragon D’Estruval was last seen in the infamous void race at Sandown. That was over 3m 5f where it looked like he just ran out of stamina. The drop-down to 3m 1f will suit much better and with the aid of cheekpieces, he will be hard to top today.
Marble Moon will be more suited to the return to Ludlow where his form figures 113 and at 10/1 he is a solid each-way alternative.
DRAGON D’ESTRUVAL is best priced 9/4 with Ladbrokes.
Ludlow 1.45 – Dolphin Square @ 15/8
Some people may have a certain view on Dolphin Squares jockey/owner David Maxwell, but to me, I think fair play to him. David has pumped 100s of thousands into the game and has every right to ride his own horses.
He has improved so much over the past few months and I think he can continue his fine form today on Dolphin Square.
Last seen in a red hot handicap at Newbury which was won by Champers On Ice who followed up at Cheltenham next tome out.
The form is rock solid and to me, he is by far the best horse in the race. He did really well to get as close as he did last time out and he will take one hell of stopping today.
The Jonjo O Neill trained Bhutan is in fine form and at 8/1 he could be one to weigh in to fill the places.
DOLPHIN SQUARE is best priced 15/8 with Matchbook.
