Tuesday’s Horse Racing NAP of The Day

Tuesday’s Horse Racing NAP of The Day – 14th January 2020

Tips provided from The Finishing Lines, Andrew Halligan.

After Punchestown getting called off yesterday due to the fear of horses turning into flying unicorns from the winds off Storm Brendan we look to put that behind us in the search for horse racing NAPs that will brighten up our day. Plus, today I will start giving some of my top Cheltenham Festival Ante-Post Tips.

Fairyhouse 12.45 – Shakeytry @ 3/1

Shakeytry has been in fine form since as far back June. His last two efforts are in my view enough to take this. Granted one was a final fence fall at Tramore but he was coming with a strong run to challenge the winner that day and then has since finished second behind Deilginis of Joseph O Brian and then a further ten lengths back to the third.

A reproduction of that might be enough to see him add another win to his CV.

One to note at a bigger price is the Moses McCabe trained, Brog Ahaon. A winner over hurdles back in August and he has had two ok runs over fences with the impression that there might be a lot of improvement out of him today. At 16/1 he looks a bit of value.

Shakeytry is best price 3/1 with bet365.

Supreme Novice Hurdle – Captain Guinness @ 20/1

Captain Guinness was second, beat 3/4 of a length to the high-class Andy Dufrene. You also have to take into account that he didn’t settle, made a very novice mistake at the last that in my opinion cost him the race.

He won on his debut beating Belfast Banter by 7 lengths, who himself was just about to win with his head in his chest at Cork next time out.

Visually Captain Guinness caught my eye and it also caught JP McManus eye as it is reported that he has now acquitted himself with the Henry de Bromhead trained gelding.

I think a fast run Supreme Novice Hurdle will help him settle and if he shows the normal improvement that you would expect from a horse only having his third run come March, he could be the dark horse they all have to fear.

Captain Guinness is best priced 20/1 with bet365.

prices are correct at time of writing.
