Wednesday’s Horse Racing NAP of The Day – 15th January 2020
Tips provided by The Finishing Lines Andrew Halligan.
Today is a special day for horse racing and today is the day when we see Sprinter Sacra’s brother makes his debut at in the 4.00 at Newbury. Will his be half as good as his brother? Only time will tell.
Back to today’s racing and Mondays card at Punchestown that was called off due to high winds and rain is back on today and there are some very interesting runners today at nice prices that can even be backed each way if you like. I have narrowed it down to two that I think have a huge chance.
Punchestown 2.35 – Key Commander @ 6/1
It’s worth taking a chance on handicap debutant Key Commander. Last seen finishing third at Limerick behind the Henry de Bromhead trained Eleazar Des Neiges where he was doing his best work at the finish and looked to be coming to hand for a crack at a handicap.
He is 0/6 over hurdles but he was just going to hit the front at the last back in March before tipping over. So, with his confidence high and what looks a nice mark he could be finally breaking his duck over hurdles and at worst he won’t be out of the top three.
Marshalled head the dangers along with the Gavin Cromwell trained Tashman.
Key Commander is best price 6/1 with Betfair.
Punchestown 3.05 – The Church Gate @ 5/1
The Chruch Gate put up a great effort when trying to win back to back handicaps at the Leopardstown Christmas Festival. That run alone fills me with great confidence that he can get his head back in front today.
He has the assistance of crack 7lb claimer in Oakley Brown. When you take all into account I can see The Church Gate very hard to beat today.
Tokyo Getaway has been in great form of late and did well to finish as close as he did in second at Tramore where he didn’t seem to enjoy the unique track and he was also badly hampered in the process. He will rate the main danger.
The Church Gate is best price 5/1 with bet365.
prices are correct at time of writing.
