Monday’s Horse Racing NAP of The Day – Monday 10th February 2020
Tips provided by The Finishing Lines Andrew Halligan.
After a few weeks on the sideline, I am back with my weekly horse racing tips on the lead up to this years Cheltenham Festival. Today I will look to give the Cheltenham Festival betting fund a nice little top-up.
Plumpton 3.15 – Chill Factor @ 8/1 (e/w)
Chill Factor has not been seen under rules since 2017. Since then he has been plying his trade in the Point To Point field.
When last under rules he was seen been second behind Abracadabra Sivola and in front of Warriors Tale in a handicap chase off 138. Today he gets to race off 121 over hurdles and that’s before taking into account Ben Godfrey’s 7lb claim.
He is coming into today off the back of a break, and if he is tuned up to do himself justice he has the class to be heavily involved in the finish.
The heavy ground might be a slight concern but the fact that he stays 3 miles well and today’s trip is over 2m4f he won’t be lacking stamina.
Again, a mark of 121 is very very tempting.
Chill Factor is best priced 8/1 with William Hill.
Cheltenham Festival Ante-Post Tip
With just over four weeks to the greatest show on turf and the excitement building up, I look for some value that may be lurking at the Cheltenham Festival.
The one that I have picked for today is the Gorden Elliot trained Chosen Mate for the Northern Trust Company Novice Handicap Chase on day 1 of the Cheltenham Festival.
Quite a decent hurdler in his own rite when taken a Grade 2 novice hurdle at Naas back in February of last year before embarking on a chasing career this season.
Placed in his first attempt when third behind Melon and Gallant John Joe ( has since been 3rd in a Grade 1) before been beaten at 6/4 when he didn’t give his running. But, he made no mistake at Gowran Park when beating Capuccimix by 11 lengths.
He has a lovely profile going into this and off a Racing Post Rating of 145 I think he can play a huge hand at 14/1.
His touch of class, his ability to travel through a race and his jumping when the taps are turned on is something that I look for in handicaps. As said, his back class and the fact that he is on the back of a very impressive win give me high hopes that Chosen Mate can get the job done on day 1 of the Cheltenham Festival
Chosen Mate is best price 14/1 with William Hill.
