Tuesdays Horse Racing NAP of The Day

Tips are provided by The Finishing Lines Andrew Halligan.

For today’s horse racing we are back over the jumps at Clonmel for what looks a very competitive card. We have a fascinating clash of Bachasson and former Grade 1 winning novice hurdler & novice chaser, Death Duty along with an intriguing bumper to close the card.

 Florrie Webb (NAP)

This Henry de Bromhead trained point to point winner didn’t go unfancied in the market on his racecourse debut when looking in need of the experience/run.

The form of that race has been well advertised with the winner Turnpike Trip going onto finish 8 lengths behind Envoi Allen in the Grade 1 Royal Bond Hurdle and the finished 4th in the Betfair Hurdle at Ascot.

If he shows normal improvement he could be very hard to contain today.

The each-way place might be the experienced Jack Hackett. He has finished 4th on all of his maiden hurdle runs but this is of the weakest he has run in and could easily be fighting it out for a place at a big price.

Florrie Webb is best priced 4/1 with Paddy Power.

 Death Duty (NB)

An intriguing race where we have former Grade 1 winning novice hurdler and Grade 1 winning novice chaser Death Duty takes on Bachasson. You also have last time out winner Discordantly, Mortal and Bonbon Au Miel in the mix as well. But I think it is between the top two in the market.

I have sided with the Gordon Elliot trained Death Duty in a hope that he will get his career back on track. Last seen when finishing 10th in the 2m 4f handicap chase at the 2020 Cheltenham Festival. He was a huge market mover on the day when backed into 8/1 from 20/1. He ran a very good race for a long way, which gave me hope that his turn to get back in the winner’s enclosure is not far away.

He faces an interesting contender in Bachasson. Like Death Duty, Bachasson ran at the Cheltenham Festival but it was over hurdles in the Coral Cup finishing a respectable 6th.

His last chase run was in the 2018 Gold Cup where he fell, but prior to that, he won two Listed chases at Thurles and Tramore. The lack of a run over fences would put me off him at the prices and for that reason, I think the sharpness that Death Duty has over his fences will be the difference today.

Death Duty is best priced 11/4  with Ladbrokes.

 Lacken Bridge (Each-Way)

I’m taking a chance that the return to Clonmel will bring out a better showing from Lacken Bridge. He has been tailed off our pulled up in his last four runs bar two runs back when he was beaten a head over C&D. Ryan Trace takes over today from Mr T Power Roche and expects a big run from Lacken Bridge.

He will handle the course and ground and in a wide-open handicap hurdle I think he is great value at 28/1.

Lacken Bridge is best priced 28/1 with Ladbrokes.

prices are correct at time of writing.
